Would you like to work for Google ? Why ? If you search inside yourself, you will remember the articles you read, and the pictures you have seen of the workspace in Google.
For a company to be able to attract and retain the best talent, a company needs to work on its Employment Brand. But the Brand needs to be authentic. What does your company really stand for ? What will it be like to work there ? Unless the Employment Brand that is put out to attract talent is grounded in the actual experience that the new hire will experience for him or herself after the corporate induction is over, you run the risk of huge dissonance between what you profess your company stands for, and the cynical comments of veteran employees that the new hires are bound to interact with sooner or later.
Looking back at my stint at Biocon, one of my significant contributions was to bring in senior level talent who could set up departments from scratch, and help us to quickly transition to the world class Biotech company we aspired to become.
As a result, I often got invites to speak about Employment Branding. Here is a link to a blog by the ISBM Corporate Relations cell for a talk I gave to their students. http://isbmcrc.blogspot.in/2010/02/mr-ravi-c-dasgupta.html
